Having my children attend 6th grade at Del Mar Pines School benefited them tremendously. Their curriculum was extraordinary including a mock trial, 7 habits for effective teens, substance abuse prevention, learning ukulele, extracting DNA at a real lab, a deep dive into ancient civilizations, live performances and more. They effortlessly transitioned into middle school and high school with excellent study habits, strong character and solid understanding of who they are.

Academic Excellence for 6th Grade Students

Academics are core to the DMP experience and we integrate stimulating and engaging learning across the curriculum. The accelerated 6th grade language arts curriculum is focused on deep literary analysis and strong writing skills. Math instruction goes beyond the basics and offers both grade level and next-grade level instruction designed to meet the individual needs of each student.

How Can Attending DMP 6th Grade Influence your Child’s Future Success?

At Del Mar Pines School, we extend learning beyond academics and focus on building students' self-confidence through public speaking and performances, encouraging a growth mindset by asking the students to try new things even when they are difficult, learning outdoor skills and teaching independence and critical thinking skills in all subject areas. We also offer weekly classes in music and theater, art, technology, hands-on science, Spanish, physical education, and library. These subjects and classes are integrated as much as possible into the classroom curriculum. Our 6th grade students also learn ukulele, attend Knots Berry farm and are featured in the annual Spring Sing musical.

Throughout the 6th grade experience, we lead classes on positive peer relationships, physical safety, and CPR certification. Our students read and discuss The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and actively participate in Project Alert, one of the most effective substance abuse prevention programs in the United States. These are just a few of the unique aspects of a Del Mar Pines 6th grade education.
